Montell Jordan: Christians Have a Duty to “make the name of Jesus famous.”

Former R&B singer, Montell Jordan, left the music business three years ago to take up the position of Worship Leader and minister full time. He recently opened up about the importance of sharing the Word of God to others.

Jordan, 44, is leading the Worship services at Victory World Church in Norcross, Georgia and is doing exactly what he believes God wants him to be doing.

Jordan, who rose to stardom as a popular R&B singer in 1995 and stayed there until he left in 2010 when he decided to become a minister, said that he had never regretted leaving the music business and he believes that Christians have a duty to “make the name of Jesus famous.”

Jordan went on to say that “I think it’s important to spread the word of God through music, through art, through film, through television through every medium until all the world knows scripturally that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess.”

The goal of every Christian should be that they take every opportunity to make the name of Jesus famous, according to Jordan.

The “Shake Heaven” album, created earlier this year by the Victory World Music team and Jordan received a Dove Award nomination for Contemporary Gospel/Urban Album of the Year.

According to Jordan, the reason he left the secular music industry in 2010 was to go into full time ministry and not, as many people believed, to change from doing secular music to doing gospel music.

Jordan continued that he is now a licensed minister who marries people, conducts funerals and baptizes people and all the other little things that come along with being a minister. He added that he also gets the chance to make music like the “Shake Heaven” album.

The reason the “Shake Heaven” album was so popular is that God music is the type of music that everybody can connect with, whether you are a Christian or not, according to Jordan.

The Victory World Music team is trying to reach the world and lost people with really good music and not just people who are Christian, said Jordan.

The second single from the album, “You Are,” which features Chris August, was originally written for his wife, according to Jordan and it received much praise from critics.

Jordan continued that he wrote “You Are” ten years ago as a love song for his wife and at the suggestion of his wife, because it had not been placed on a particular artist, he re-wrote it and made it a love song to the Lord.

Man Sets House On Fire While Trying To Cook The Bible

Jeremy Anderson, 22, from Oklahoma City is behind bars after setting fire to his kitchen when he tried to “cook the Bible,” and during his arrest, he told police that he was a Satanist.

Police were called to the home of Anderson on Wednesday when a neighbor called to report an incident of a “person going ballistic.”

Anderson threw objects at the police when they arrived and tried to enter his house. He had also kicked off the hinges to his front door and police noticed that he had blood stains covering his hands and face, according to police reports.

When an officer tried to taze Anderson, he told them that he wouldn’t be affected by it and when he was tazed again, he removed the probes in an act of defiance. According to local television station, KOCO-TV, Anderson continued to act like a madman and all attempts to talk him down failed.

Anderson then told backup police officers who arrived on the scene that he would fist fight them and they should put down their guns. After smelling smoke coming from the apartment, police then obtained a key to Anderson’s back door from the local housing authority and they were able to enter his house.

Upon entering the home of Anderson, officials discovered that the walls and floor were covered in blood, bleach and some other “substances.” A fire was also discovered in the kitchen and broken glass and furniture littered the apartment.

After being tasered several more times, Anderson was finally dragged out of the burning building by police who were dressed in riot gear.

Anderson also reportedly told police that he was a Satanist and he had started the fire because he wanted to “cook the Bible.” He also told them that he was “possessed by a homosεxual demon” who had performed sεxual acts upon him, according to KFOR-TV.

Reportedly, Anderson also stated to police that that he was surprised that he allowed the demon to touch him because he wasn’t homosεxual.

Anderson was taken to Oklahoma County Jail and held on charges of arson after being taken to hospital for checkup.

Bishop Tells Her Church She Married a Woman, Then She Quits Her Job

The subject of gay marriage is a touchy one in the church.  It is even touchier in the black church, which is more conservative than churches in other communities.  This led to controversy when Bishop Allyson D. Nelson Abrams told her church that she was married to a woman.  She then announced that she was resigning from the Zion Progressive Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan so as not to be a distraction.

Bishop Abrams informed the folks at Newsone.com that she was married to another Bishop by the name of Diana Williams of the Imani Temple of the African-American Catholic Congregation in Washington, DC.  The two kept their marriage under wraps, but eventually, the rumors spun out of the control and the issue had to be confronted.

”I could have been like so many people are and lied and said it’s not true,” Abrams, said to NewsOne. ”But that’s not how I was raised and, as a Christian, I was always taught to be a truthful individual. So when it came up I said, ‘OK. I need to be honest with my congregation and tell them truth about what was a great event for me.”’

Right after making the announcement to her congregation, the Bishop resigned from her post.  She also told the Michigan Chronicle that she was leaving the church and also resigning from her position as the co-editor of a magazine called “The Baptist Progress.”

So, this leads to the question:  If the pastor you know and love came and told you that they were married to a person of the same gender, what would you do?  Do you think that church members truly hate those who are gay or they just expect them to keep their private lives to themselves?
