Jars Of Clay Release New Album ‘Inland’ On Their Own Record Label Gray Matters

GRAMMY and Dove Awards winning band Jars Of Clay are preparing to release their 11th studio album, ‘Inland,’ on their own label imprint Gray Matters with distribution through Tone Tree. Produced by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, Beth Orton, The Decemberists) and mixed by Beau Sorenson and Jacquire King, ‘Inland’ is available today for pre-order at iTunes and Amazon.com, and will be available on 27th August 2013.

It’s been nearly 20 years since Dan Haseltine, Steve Mason, Charlie Lowell and Matthew Odmark released their debut ‘Frail’. Students at the time, Jars Of Clay once again harness the youthful ambition and uninhibited creativity of their beginnings for Inland, while cultivating a mature sound with embellishments of violin, horns and ambient melodies that attests two decades of experience.

“These are songs for the ordinary days – when life is weighty and uncertain,” reflects Matthew Odmark. “It is this middle space that we have inhabited over the years.  It’s where you and I do the gritty work of actually living.”

With the title track recently featured exclusively as RollingStone.com’s free “Daily Download,” the music on Inland has a rich cinematic quality, marked by Lowell’s lush keyboard melodies, Odmark’s strong acoustic rhythm guitar and Mason’s serpentine bass lines. The album’s first single and upcoming video, ‘After The Fight,’ featuring the atmospheric guitar textures of Adrian Belew, has a low-key swagger that brings to mind the intergalactic art rock of Bowie and Peter Murphy. “We asked Adrian Belew if he’d come in and work his magic,” explains Haseltine. “He produced two songs on our first record, but we were too intimidated to let him play guitar. This time he added his big, wild, twanging guitar sound, the reverse solos and all the other effects he’s famous for.”

Following years on labels, ‘Inland’ marks Jars Of Clay’s first independent release, “We’ve had enough experience with record labels working a project because they have to,” says Haseltine. “Everyone we work with loves the record and wants to help us build something as a band with a big creative vision.”

Part of that creative vision is to shatter some of the preconceived notions built over the years by label marketing strategies. “It took a long time to strip away every voice that wasn’t ours to make Inland,” explains Haseltine. “For me, it’s always been about a great song. We want to connect with people who love music for music. That’s why created our own label.”

Jars Of Clay is currently on tour, playing new music from ‘Inland’ and fan favoUrites spanning the band’s repertoire that includes 16 No. 1 songs.  The tour also features special guests The Last Bison supporting in August and Brooke Waggoner and Kye Kye supporting in September on select dates. Visit the Jars Of Clay website for tour dates.

Man Arrested After Confessing Murder to His Pastor and Praying with Him All Night

Sometimes, the mistakes we make in life lie so heavy on our heart that we can’t let them go.  Confessing is one way to try to make things better, but it can also lead to consequences.

A man is accused of shooting two people in the Bronzeville neighborhood of Chicago over the weekend.  He killed one of those men, and ended up turning himself in to police.

Lamont Grant is now going to be faced with one count of first-degree murder, attempted first degree murder and aggravated battery.

“He feels remorse for that,” said his grandmother, Cynthia Adams.

Rev. Corey Brooks, pastor of New Beginnings Church, said that the young man turned himself in to police after confessing his killings to the pastor and praying with him throughout the night.

“He wants me to give a message to [McNeal's] family because he really was distraught about what happened to Mr. McNeal,” Brooks said.

Ralph McNeal was one of the victims of Grant’s attacks.   Brooks says that Grant suffers from mental disorders and had not been taking his medication.

“Turning a brother into the police for shooting and killing two people we just prayed I gave him the plan of salvation he accepted,” Brooks wrote on Twitter. “We prayed at the church now we on our way to the police station.”

{Exclusive Premier} "RENEGADE" by The Renegade Team

The dawn of events in the recent past (the pervasiveness, love for worldly pleasure etc)  tells us that we live in a time where the things that are rarely mentioned or taboos are now the new norms, society has taking a downturn, our values and beliefs have been watered down, it’s a seemingly hell let lose situation. Most youths no longer have regard for elders or believe that they should wait till they are married before they should have sex, the level of hard drugs intake is also alarming and it makes me to wonder, where is the place of the church in our society?

Why have we become comfy in our air condition fitted auditoriums than going to the world to make disciples? The church should be a place where the world gets its standards from not the other way round but thank God for the wave of revival that He is sending to His church, a release of power, His Spirit and anointing, this is what gave birth to the movement -the Renegades.

Their central focus is to not conform to this world but to live based on the dictates of the Kingdom of God and to show forth the Kingdom of Light and because lights attracts they also will use that influence to attract men and women (majorly the youth) to seek that light and to live by its dictates. The name Renegade was chosen because like Daniel we choose to stand against the ungodliness (the creed and the culture), we choose to be the round pegs in the square holes of the world- we don’t fit in (JClone will say #Misfit).

We don't conform to the standard of the world. #DaKingdomXploit.

Be Blessed.

Ghanaians are hypocrites Says Pastor Azigiza Jnr.

Speaking on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review, Pastor Azigiza Jnr stated that Ghanaians will be quick to judge any gospel musician in Ghana who sings a pop song, tagging him or her to have ‘fallen’ but they are the same people who went to watch Kirk Franklin perform at the Perez Dome over the weekend.

“The truth must be said, there is some form of hypocrisy among Ghanaians. All the people who went to the Perez Dome are Christians and Ghanaians who love good music but they are the same people who will condemn should a Ghanaian sing hip-pop gospel music so what are we saying?” Azigiza quizzed show host Kwesi Aboagye.

According to Pastor Azigiza, any gospel song which is produced in Ghana under the hip-pop genre receives little or no patronage because the Ghanaian society expects you to walk, talk and sing in a certain way if you are a gospel musician.

“Some time ago when I did my first gospel, it had rap and the hip-pop groove in it. In Ghana, we could not even sell a single copy but we sold so much when I went to the US. The reason being that the culture of the people over there is such that they embrace modernity,” he noted.

He also added that most Ghanaians suffer what he calls the ‘Saul’ syndrome. Explaining the ‘Saul’ syndrome, Pastor Azigiza added that “when they see a ‘David’ coming, they either want to kill him or they will not accept him in any way. To most people, if you try something new with gospel music, then they say it is not from God.”

“In Ghana, the norm is that gospel music is supposed to be sorrowful, the gospel musician should also be broke and have this abnormal humility,” he said.

Meanwhile Pastor Azigiza endorsed Kirk Franklin’s style of music stating that “what Kirk Franklin does is 100 per cent gospel music. If you want to analyze Kirk’s Music then we will have to look at the music outside the box. Also we have to also take into consideration the culture of the people where he does the music for.”

“I can tell you on authority that what Kirk Franklin is doing is music and it is also gospel – which is the good news-. So he marries the sound and the lyrics with the spirit of God.”

{New Music} "I CAN" By Beautiful Lite ft. I_Kan & Texx

In wrestling, a tag team match would be a situation where two or more athletes join forces to defeat an opponent. This track is quite a tag team only this time the opponent in the ring was an innocent beat. Let's blame the producer, Jukebox [@Jukerecordz], for bringing a clueless lamb into the den that had BeautifulLite, I_kan and Texx in it. Sent my condolences already!

This collaboration features Broken Record crooner I_kan and finest Femcee BeautifulLite. Popular opinion suggests she garnished MC Adoga Of Rap's The Kill.  They speak about the endless possibilities that exist beyond the realm of imagination where; Christ stands as the only source of energy to achieving possible and impossible aspirations, presenting a life without limits, with the help of  the undeniably exceptional skills of female vocalist, Texx.

This song made me believe I could to put the whole of Lagos in a bucket, then mould the already full bucket into a ball and kick it to Burundi. Lol!

The trio belong to christian club WWJD Minna chapter  and are members of popular HipHop group IHN.

{NEW MUSIC} "The Kill" by MC Adoga ft. Beautiful Lite

MC Adoga Of Rap is one of the most respected emcees in Minna. He is a final year student and a member of christian clique what would Jesus do (WWJD?) I urge you to take a listen to his latest effort in a time where Many  rappers find some things difficult, one of them include describing a complete event with the use of simple, consistent and
interlocking metaphor.

But Top Naija Music Awards Best Rap Act winner and Scepters national award winner, MC Adoga Of Rap is yet the first Nigerian rapper I've heard using the street gang setting to explain the necessary violence one must engage in, so as to end the ageless war between the man and his lifelong foe, the flesh. He has a mix of the old west coast rap and the present generations groove that gives his style an unbelievable flavour. On a personal note This Jam is shows off MC Adoga Of Rap's vocal cadence, delivery  and laconic word scheme paves way for Beautiful Lite; she gives the song that silk feel as she steps in at intervals to reduce the tension, thanks to her smooth relaxed flow. The track highlights christians ignorance; most of us attend church but have no intention of becoming moving churches, flesh at work! ENJOY!!!
