Erica Campbell Grieves Loss Of Father On New Single ‘Help’ + Wraps Video Shoot

On the heels of the infamous white-hot controversy over Grammy-nominated solo artist Erica Campbell’s promo photo featuring a body-hugging dress, the resilient singer is getting back to the music.

The release of her new song “Help,” the title track from her forthcoming album, marks the second official single from the eOne/MyBlock Records artist’s  debut project. In it, Campbell lets out an agonizing plea for God to help her cope with the death of her father.

“God I just lost my daddy, I need help!” she shouts near the end of the song, in remembrance of her late father Eddie A. Atkins Jr., who died of cancer just over 6 months ago on June 25, 2013. He was 66.

Campbell, best known as one-half of the award-winning sister duo Mary Mary, despite still grieving, has kept going, continuing to tour, conducting interviews and hitting the studio.

Already, Campbell is has announced the recording of the visual companion to the new song.

The mid-tempo urban melody with a throwback vibe features Grammy-winning Christian rapper and Reach Records co-founder Lecrae, who will also appear in the video, directed by Billy Woodruff, that wrapped production Monday, Jan. 6.

“The video shoot went very well, so happy!” tweeted Campbell.

At the time of writing this article, there is no official word on when the music video will be released.
